Tasted the food at this outlet a few times and the general impression is quite good, for this visit , curry rice with curry chicken is not bad or in fact is quite good. Seems like the fried chicken was quite good. Especially with the curry sauce . Craypot rice was quite tasty previously but now the cooked rice is totally tasted flat with no fragrance. Not sure if the rice was changed. The chicken cooked with the craypot is only 2 or 3 small miserable pcs of chicken meat and it is not seasoned and tasted plain. Overall, this claypot rice is nothing to enjoy the food,not unless one can’t find any decent food. Not recommended.

1) ordered batang fish set but the staff served me another fish which has many tiny bones, I confronted her why did she fail to inform me that the batang fish has sold out before I make payment so that I have an option to cancel the order, she kept quiet. Such dispicable forced sale tactic!!
2) the claypot rice is another horrible disappointment, beside being not fragrant, worst thing is there is only 2 pathetic pieces of chicken served, no vegetable, no chinese sausage, utterly a daylight robbery!!! dispicable business tactic!!

Absolutely terrible service, waited at the claypot rice section for 5 minutes to be ignored by the staff standing there. Staff consistently showed a lack of care for anything they do, and have a irritable face when serving all customers. As I was waiting, various customers in line also expressed their dissatisfaction with various services (eg. Asking for spring onion and staff saying they do not have despite a bowl full of spring onion directly Infront of them). Will not come back to this place. Dissapointing

Encik Tan over at compass one has been around ever since the mall undergo a major revamp. I would say that this outlet is of average size as compared to other encik tan outlets in othe locations. Seats are very very limited and hard to come by if you happen to passby during peak hours in the evening.
Food choices wise, it has a wide variety of stalls such as their signature curry rice, fish soup, char kway teo, carrot cake, western food, claypot dishes as well. Sadly, they do not have my favourite sesame chicken claypot here at this outlet. I would love to have them bring it in though, since they already have claypot dishes here in this outlet.
Taste wise, I would say that it is on par with the rest of their encik tan outlet island wide. So do drop by if you're I the vicinity and craving for a plate of curry rice.

Claypot chicken rice was terrible. Soggy and tasteless.
And they don't serve drinks with straw for grass jelly. Asked for a straw nicely the lady said I am the 1st customer who asked for it with the drink. I asked to change for another drink, and she said it's not possible as it has been paid for.

Food was subpar along with terribly rude staff (featured in the picture) who threw my packet of claypot rice when I was collecting it. Not only that, when I asked for chilli, her response was short and offhand. This was my first time experiencing such atrocious service and I do believe that the other staff from the other stalls are actually courteous. Hope the management can look into improving the quality of customer service.

Encik Tan offers a variety of stalls under one roof, including a claypot stall, a fishball noodle stall, a curry rice stall, and a drinks stall. We decided to try the claypot rice and the yi mian claypot.
Even though Encik Tan is a halal establishment, their claypots looked exactly like the traditional Chinese claypots we're familiar with. We were impressed that they managed to recreate the classic claypot flavor without using pork lard or any ingredients not permitted in halal cuisine. The claypot rice, with its fragrant soy sauce, was particularly delicious. Even Kitty commented, "Wow, the claypot tastes alright, even though it's halal"
My yi mian was also enjoyable. While both the claypot rice and yi mian were flavorful, we felt there was a subtle something missing, a taste that we couldn't quite pinpoint.
The service was friendly and efficient. After we finished our meal, a friendly uncle went around to help clear our dishes. There was also a designated tray return station for convenience. The ambiance was bright and spacious, which we appreciated.

If you come encik tan to dapao i tell you dont come because not worth it the takeaway containers quite overpriced. But if you come here to eat then its a good choice! Quite value for money the portion is generous. I ordered the squid so actually not that generous but enough for me. I imagine if someone of a bigger size then maybe not enough. But the rice + curry alone is quire tasty i will come back again but only to dine in. Chilli is on point

Encik Tan is a half food court, half fast food restrurant. It’s like you take a food court, miniaturize it, and put it right next to an actual food court. I swear, these outlets seem to always have an actual food court. This isn’t a bad thing just a thing I noticed. The food here was quite tasty actually, the claypot chicken rice was fantastic and that’s just from one stall, imagine the others, and I only paid $5.50 for that! I don’t like how some rice got stuck onto the claypot but that’s probably just me. The ONE thing I hate though is that the tables are ALWAYS dirty, like it seems like the tables either have a 90% water 10% ??? puddle on it or a new tattoo. Besides that the workers are alright, if they we’re replaced with mindless robots I would have never noticed but that isn’t a problem really. Overall, good food, ugly tables.

Tried twice on their curry chicken cutlet rice which are really satisfying at the price of $4.30. It always (so far) came hot and crispy which are really tasty! Would hope that they given more vegetables as the portion is lesser as I’ve seen as compared to other outlets.
