Bengawan Solo at Compass One continues Singapore's beloved tradition of authentic Indonesian-style kueh, cakes, and pastries since 1979, bringing four decades of expertise to the Sengkang community on B1 level. Founded by Indonesian migrant Tjendri Anastasia-Liew from Palembang, this treasured bakery has grown from a home business to 45 outlets islandwide, preserving time-honored recipes using traditional methods, finest ingredients, and no artificial preservatives that have made Bengawan Solo a household name across Singapore.
The outlet specializes in their legendary Kueh Lapis - a luxuriously fragrant traditional Southeast Asian layered cake painstakingly baked layer by layer with a distinctive blend of spices, creating rich notes of dark chocolate, roasted peanuts, sugar browning, and earthy spice. Beyond their signature Kueh Lapis and Prune Lapis, the bakery offers an extensive selection of traditional Singapore kueh, Indonesian-style cakes, premium cookies, and seasonal specialties including mooncakes, all crafted using authentic recipes passed down through generations.
Located conveniently on the basement level for easy takeaway access, Bengawan Solo Compass One serves as the perfect destination for both everyday treats and luxury gourmet gifts that showcase Singapore's local confectionery heritage. Whether shopping for New Year festivities, seeking uniquely local food gifts for overseas visitors, or simply indulging in nostalgic flavors, this Sengkang outlet maintains the brand's commitment to great taste, quality, and freshness that has delighted families for over four decades.
The Angku kuehs that bought here are the ugliest that I ever saw. Ruined the brand reputation. Lesson learned—please insist to check before the payment or grab it yourself if they allowed, it’s not exchangeable or refundable once sold.

They gave me the wrong item. When I called, the first thing she said was, “The one you received is more expensive than the original order,” without any apology. I explained that I called because I don’t like the item I received and want my original items back. When I went back to Compass One, all she said was, “Hello, here,” again without apologizing. When you make a mistake, at least say sorry

The staff at Compass Point Outlet was very disappointed, and their attitude was very rude. I stood by the counter, and one of the staff members asked me to go to the cashier after choosing, telling me not to obstruct their work while I was waiting. When I entered the shop, no one attended to me until I called for assistance. Then, one of the staff members responded very slowly. I bought four boxes of lapis cakes and asked them three times to please cut them into small pieces. They took a long time at the counter, and I thought everything would be fine, but in the end, the cakes were not cut into small pieces!
I hope you will take steps to improve your service, as this was a frustrating experience for me as a customer.

Terrible service! 👎🤬Wanted to buy sliced chocolate hazelnut cake but it was not available on the shelf. Thus, i asked if i could buy the whole cake and have your staff help me cut into slices (as we cant cut cake) and had to drop off(hang at door) the sliced cake immediately for different households that has covid, thus we cant repack it at home! Was met with a straight NO! WE CANT DO THAT, WE HAVE LAW HERE. lol nevermind, just as i was about to leave, she ran after me and told me she have what i wanted (?) so i agreed to buy and told her to seperate into 2 batch. End up after paying, she told me THEY HAVE LAW, CANNOT SEPERATE PLASTIC (?) Asked me to pay for another bag. Lols isnt it funny? Can give me 2 boxes but cannot pack in 2 bags when i asked to seperately pack them before i paid? If i knew this was the case i would have bought them seperately. They are super not flexible and plain RUDE! i dont owe anyone a living, communicated politely to be met with all these. If you are unhappy to be working there, just find another job lah. 😵 worst experience at bengawan solo and will never patronise this outlet anymore!

Made booking for 10 Pandan Chiffon cake in advance. The store confirmed the booking and I left my name&number. When I arrived at the store, the staff informed me they have none, mumbled some inaudible excuse. And asked me to come back 4 hours later.
Extremely lousy and unprofessional customer service. This is not even a marginal error (eg. 8cakes missing 2), but missing 10 cakes. Didn’t cross the staff mind to call to inform.
Wasted trip down

BAD Experience!
On 10 April 2023, my mum went to Compass One at 1.01p.m outlet to redeem the baby shower cake.
Initially, she wanted a pandan cake but after knowing there is a need to top up, she decided to get a chocolate one instead. The staff took the chocolate cake from the display counter, which was supposed to be like this. But, the staff who we do not know the name (i am sure through CCTV )you will manage to find out. The staff gossiped with her colleagues and SWOP the cake from another fridge from the back.
I am very sure that this will cause the image that Bengawan Solo is trying to change either an old cake? or a going-to-expire cake for us to consume. This is UNACCETABLE! I hope to have an explanation for this. The cake is for my children to eat. How can this be happening in front of your customer?

I wad standing at the show case and your staff who was mopping the floor looked at me and continued with her job. There is one staff standing at counter but never look out for customer. The staff who was mopping floor never care to alert her colleague neither. Poor customer service! Bad!

The staff at this outlet are very hardworking, and also patient to explain to me that I can actually claim the value of the voucher, instead of restricting my selection to just marble or banana cake (gifted by a friend who have his 2nd kid). She said it's worth $10.80. Then she went back to packing, and never fail to notice if there's movement behind, requiring her attention. And the cashier is also very calm to handle all the 10338th ways to make payment and inputing into the cash register, I used my Shopee pay for the remaining balance.
