Shabu Sai Compass One brings authentic Japanese hotpot dining to the Sengkang community on Level 2 at #02-31, offering an all-you-can-eat buffet experience featuring traditional Shabu-Shabu and Sukiyaki with diverse soup bases and over 60 food options. As part of Singapore's established hotpot scene with locations at prestigious venues like Orchard Central, Suntec City, and NEX, this popular restaurant has been satisfying local cravings long before the hotpot trend exploded, providing families with quality Japanese dining experiences in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
The restaurant specializes in thinly sliced premium meats including unlimited beef, pork, and chicken served on elegant black lacquer trays, complemented by fresh vegetables, greens, seaweed, mushrooms, and specialty ingredients available at their comprehensive buffet line. Unique features include their use of bamboo serving vessels believed to have anti-bacterial properties that maintain meat freshness, while the dining experience allows guests to cook ingredients table-side in steaming hot Japanese broths, creating personalized flavor combinations that cater to individual preferences and dietary needs.
With family-friendly pricing that charges children based on height rather than age (free for under 100cm, reduced rates for 100-140cm), plus optional free-flow soft drinks and ice cream for just .50++, Shabu Sai Compass One provides exceptional value dining experiences with dine-in service that encourages social dining. The restaurant's combination of authentic Japanese hotpot traditions, comprehensive buffet offerings, friendly service, and convenient mall accessibility makes it the perfect destination for family gatherings, celebrations, and anyone seeking quality Japanese cuisine in Singapore's largest suburban community.
Visited for lunch and found the food to be decent, with an average variety—while enjoyable, there are comparable options at a similar price point. That said, I appreciate their effort in introducing a new broth, and the sayur lodeh was a nice touch.
Unfortunately, the dining experience took a turn when we noticed a cockroach crawling on the seat. We immediately informed the staff, who promptly addressed the situation, but it understandably diminished our appetite. Cleanliness is a crucial aspect of any dining establishment, and I hope they take steps to improve this moving forward.

We usually visit Shabu Sai at Compass One from time to time. During our visit today, we noticed that the Japanese udon noodles had a strange plastic-like taste after cooking, so we decided not to eat them. After making payment, we gave this feedback to the staff, but he did not seem keen to engage or respond.
We also observed that some of the vegetables were browning, which raised concerns about their freshness.
Additionally, while the staff were on their meal break in a corner of the restaurant, they were playing media out loud on their mobile device, which could be heard throughout the dining area. While it is completely understandable for staff to have their breaks on-site, it may not be appropriate for diners to have to listen to whatever is being played as we paid to dine in peace.
We hope this feedback is helpful and taken into consideration to improve the dining experience.

May I know why are we paying for GST when all they do is just stand around and not clear this mess that was on the table ? It has been there for 30 mins at least. Where’s the service ? Want to earn service tax then at least do some service

Very bad. We ordered some meat plates but cant finish so not even 10 minutes later, we asked if can be returned but the staff either denied for both return and allow us takeaway. BUT claimed charging us extra.
I know there is certain policy in place for food. The meat wont contaminate straightaway so fine, i packed it myself taking my own food risk, didnt bother for them to pack for me. Then when we paid bill, the staff insisted to throw the packet yet also to pay for extra food. Extra cost doesnt matter but its a wastage of food. End of the day, the staff waived extra charge. But i wont visit to this branch again, ever. They are eyeing on customers like that? no way.

Shabu Sai is a popular hot pot and shabu-shabu restaurant known for its all-you-can-eat concept, offering a wide variety of fresh meats, seafood, and vegetables. The broth options are flavorful, with choices like spicy miso, sukiyaki, and clear broth, catering to different tastes. The meat quality is decent for the price, and the DIY sauce bar adds a fun, customizable touch. Service is generally efficient, though it can get busy during peak hours. While it may not be the most luxurious hot pot experience, Shabu Sai provides great value for money, making it a solid choice for casual dining with friends or family.

We definitely need more Japanese steamboats around this neighborhood. ShabuSai served Buffett style steamboat with Japanese soup bases and cost $33.50 per person and this price includes free flow drinks. I think they have improved their meat quality.

Went on a Monday afternoon around 2pm off-peak.
Food- Cheap lunch menu at only 18.99 for the basic all you can eat, consisting of 4 types of meat (beef, chicken, pork belly, pork shoulder) with other hotpot sides and a sauce station with 6 soup bases available. Unlimited drinks for extra $2.50. Meat was delicious and sides paired well with the soup.
Service- idk maybe cause I went off peak but service people were nice and attentive, idk why people say service is bad it was really good 🤷♂️
Ambience- Peaceful and quiet, makes me feel relaxed while I'm feasting like a pig.
Overall, this place is a great value for money, if you want a quiet place to dine on good food do come here and eat, 10/10.

I've left comments for Shabu Sai at Woodlands before.. it remains the same for food.. however think they have removed the idea of per serving of drinks charges and changed back to self refill this it's now back to value for money!!!
Kudos to this shop!!!

First time eating at shabu sai on 6 Dec didn't wait long to be seated at around 8pm, the meal was great and service was excellent, you can tell the crews do have the spirit of hospitality with them.
Maybe the rating is low due to previous service teams, but definitely not this one!

Patronised this outlet last night for dinner, and we were met with exceptional service from the entire staff. Everyone was very welcoming and attentive to me and my family.
When we went to get some ice cream, it had run out, and we were informed it would be ready in 5 minutes. As we were engaged in our conversations and didn't keep track of time, a staff member came over to our table to let us know as soon as it was available. Unfortunately, I didn't catch his name, but we really appreciated his thoughtfulness and effort. He even reminded me about my Compass One membership, which I had completely forgotten about, ensuring I could accumulate points.
Overall, a wonderful dining experience with outstanding service!
